Answer: The illustration in the Crowne Plaza ad is based on a drawing by Netherlands artist M.C.Escher (1898 - 1972). The title of the work is "Another World", 1946. It is also known as "Other World Gallery". Escher worked primarily in lithographs and woodcuts and occasionally mezzotints.
